The Formation of Character in Education

From Aristotle to the 21st Century

This book explores the formation of character from Aristotle through to the 21st Century. Chapters cover the foundations and definitions of models of character through classical, medieval, early modern and enlightenment eras. The book then moves to examine the practices through time. This book argues for knowledge of the historical background to inform current discussions around character formation, inviting the reader to look back in order to look forward

The Formation of Character in Education will be relevant to a range of readers including teachers, parents, students, academics and researchers interested in character development and history of human and social development.
