The Oxford Character Project

A new generation of wise thinkers and good leaders

The Oxford Character Project is an initiative aimed at understanding and promoting character development in educational settings. Rooted in extensive research conducted by Oxford University, the project explores how virtues such as resilience, kindness, integrity, and curiosity can be nurtured in students to support their personal growth and academic success. By collaborating with schools, educators, and communities, the Oxford Character Project provides evidence-based strategies and tools to help create positive learning environments where students develop strong moral foundations alongside their intellectual abilities. The project emphasises the importance of character education as essential for preparing young people to navigate complex challenges and contribute meaningfully to society.

The Oxford Character Project has partnered with Harvard University’s Human Flourishing Program and Legatum to bring to the world a free 30-day leadership course, Leading with Character, designed to help clarify for leaders what it means to lead in their context and support them to build habits to expand their ability, influence positive change, develop an unwavering foundation of character and foster a commitment to courage, love and hope.
